Lala is an expert vegan chef. She has been featured in Thrive Magazine, GO Magazine, Travel and Leisure, Time Out NY, Allure, In Style, Edible, and on a plethora of media platforms including The Today Show and Oprah’s Oxygen Network showcasing her many professional successes.

A trailblazer, strategist and innovator since an early age, Lala has formed several successful businesses and was one of the first people ever to have a multi-designer website that went from just 10 brands to over 190 in short order. It was on this platform that fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff launched her iconic brand. Industry recognition lead to the launch of a NYC-based fashion boutique and becoming a highly sought after fashion consultant for major brands and producer of large-scale events particularly for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. She taught workshops across the country on marketing, branding, manufacturing and the strategy behind starting a successful business at a time no one else was offering such an innovative and comprehensive program. She offered similar teachings through a series of guest lectures at Parson’s New School of Design, FIDM and Howard University.

After achieving her fashion dreams, Lala took a year to travel and volunteer. During that time, she spent three days a week at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in upstate New York helping raise chickens, clean the grounds and groom animals. She baked pies for the pigs and fed watermelon to the rescued residents. This was a life-changing experience that inspired Angela to enroll in culinary school and focus on living a vegan lifestyle.

Lala graduated from Natural Gourmet/ICE Culinary School in NYC and has catered events for people and animals alike. She’s cooked for various NYC animal shelter events and for Woodstock Farm Sanctuary including for their “Thanksliving”—a vegan version of Thanksgiving where turkeys feast on yummy food and pie. She has also catered weddings and events on many scales for tastemakers, industry notables and the Hollywood elite from coast-to-coast including Bruce Willis, Kanye West, J Cole, Gwenyth Paltrow, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ryan Seacreast,  Kaley Cuoco, Scooter Braun, Patricia Field and Ramy Youssef. 

Her recognition as an accomplished vegan chef and renowned consultant inspired her to start her own consulting firm helping restaurant start-ups and various food-related businesses. Her professional services and food—namely, her vegan cheeses—caught the attention of Chinese Buddhists who brought her to China to veganize and create Chinese-forward recipes with a western flare. They set up an eco-veg-and-herb garden and implemented organic farming practices into their production for over 800 restaurant locations throughout China offering free lunches for elders as well as a public menu. Collaborating with Buddhists, meeting a master Buddhist, experiencing their practices, touring temples and being fully enmeshed into Chinese culture was another magical, life-changing experience for Angela.

She went on to launch Nairobi’s first health-supportive, veg-forward restaurant—Kenya’s first of this kind. Lala created, tested and trained on the menu. Other food start-ups she’s assisted include Fireman Restaurant Group, Coming Soon Food Group and dozens of other food-related businesses including vending machines, dog food, new American restaurants, product lines, commissary and ghost kitchens, packaged food companies as well as cheese-alternative companies including Violife.

As a consultant, her talents range from concept to opening and everything in between. Her expertise is in recipe testing, equipment layout, innovative branding, marketing and menu strategies. A strong leader, Angela manages and forms teams with ease and has excellent interpersonal communication skills. As an expert vegan chef, she specializes in multi-international cuisine, health supportive foods, niche diets and emerging trends in food.

Her vegan cheeses launched and were featured at Riverdel, the nation’s first all-vegan cheese shop. After becoming their prominent cheese maker with her cheeses making their way into all their grab-and-go sandwiches, Angela and her in-demand cheeses have been featured and loved at Seed Food and Wine Festival, James Beard House and Veg Food Festival. She has perfected her vegan burrata and soft artisan briny mozzarella giving her prominence in the vegan cheese world.

Lala sits on the advisory board of Gaia’s Essence Women’s Conference and is one of their keynote speakers; she is also a regular contributor for GO Magazine. Currently, she is consulting with restaurants on both coasts and opening a namesake restaurant with a managing partner. She spends her time between Los Angeles and New York City and shares her home with two dogs and two cats she rescued and loves dearly. She enjoys helping people create their dream concepts and watching them come to life. A constant innovator and problem solver, Lala is a go-getter and passionate about all she does!
